![The origins
The territory of the municipality of Vigevano was populated since the pre-Roman age, as evidenced by the numerous archaeological finds discovered in various areas of the municipal territory, and in particular near the Sforzesca[12]. Although in the twentieth century a short stretch (unfortunately not well investigated) of road, perhaps from the Roman era, was found in the historic city center[13], there is no evidence that documents the existence of a settlement in the Roman era. The first document that proves with certainty the existence of a castrum (fortified settlement) in Vigevano dates back to 963[14], it was a fortified enclosure located at the highest point, within which, in times of danger, the inhabitants of the surrounding area could take refuge[15].
In the twelfth century the precarious fortifications were replaced by more solid structures and the settlement grew, within the fortified area, now also defended by a moat; numerous houses and warehouses thus arose. However, the settlement was long disputed between Pavia and Milan and, especially in the thirteenth century, was repeatedly sacked, destroyed and rebuilt.[15] Vigevano was granted to Pavia by Barbarossa in 1154, conquered by the Milanese in 1157, and then returned to the control of Pavia. In 1197 Vigevano was elevated to the rank of a borough of the city of Pavia and, on that occasion, a high tower was built in the castle.
It was besieged and conquered by the Milanese in 1201 and 1212, but remained part of the Pavia district until the 1250s, when it became a stable Milanese possession.
It was during this period, in 1227, that as a free municipality it joined the second Lombard League[9], from which it broke away in 1237, when the army of Frederick II defeated the forces of the league in the battle of Cortenuova, and Vigevano returned to the emperor[18].7

Da oltre un incrocio si vede l'angolo del complesso della ex Ursus Gomma. In primo piano degli edifici bassi si allungano a sinista lungo una strada. Verso destra, altri corpi piu alti. Dietro a questi ci sono due palazzine e una torre snella che sembra un campanile. I muri sono intonacati di bianco. Il cielo è di un blu intenso.
Questa in passato è stata una fabbrica di calzature in gomma. Una delle più importanti di #Vigevano Oggi è un complesso residenziale.
