Spring in the mountains. Going through the photos taken on our hike today, in the Lepontine Alps above Val #Vigezzo 🇮🇹. ⛰️🌺🌼🫏

Returning from a weekend above Val #Vigezzo in northern #Piemonte 🇮🇹. Still quite some snow high up in the mountains, yet the meadows facing south are already covered by crocus flowers and the occasional blue gentian.

A day out in, and above, Valle #Vigezzo 🇮🇹, its villages and pastures. Winter retreats to the highest mountains. Where the snow has melted away, the first heralds of spring make an appearance. And the narrow-gauge #trenino of the #Centovalli🇨🇭#Vigezzina 🇮🇹 railway is never far away.

Weekend in Val #Vigezzo 🇮🇹: lovely villages, mountain pastures, hilltop churches and: there is always a chance to come across a #CentovalliExpress🇨🇭train down in the valley!

High up above Val #Vigezzo 🇮🇹 in #Piemonte this afternoon. A breathtakingly beautiful autumn day. And of course I needed to take a picture of the #Centovalli🇨🇭Express, running from #Domodossola to #Locarno.

#Trontano 🇮🇹 in Val #Vigezzo earlier this afternoon. A wonderful autumn day. We see an eastbound “Diretto” for #Locarno🇨🇭and the “Regionale” for #Domodossola. Both are worked by #SSIF ABe8/8 units, built in 1959.
