The unit, built in the 1950s, was working train #R262, the afternoon regional from #Re. And there’s a nice train station café.

#Camedo is the last station in #Switzerland for international westbound trains on the #Centovalli🇨🇭#Vigezzina 🇮🇹 line. #SSIF unit ABe8/8 23 “Ossola” was in charge of the 17:50 departure from #Locarno to #Domodossola today, pictured here while making a very brief stop at Camedo.
Stopping by the roadside earlier this afternoon, we were overtaken by the #SSIF 🇮🇹 ABe6/6 unit 34 “Piemonte”, working the 14:04 regional service from #Domodossola to #Re. Next stop would be #Masera, where the narrow gauge line leaves the #Toce river plain, and start its steep ascent to #ValVigezzo.
Over the narrow-gauge #Vigezzina 🇮🇹 line in northern #Piemonte with the #Re to #Domodossola afternoon Regional. This is a charming #SSIF ABe8/8 unit, built in the late 1950s with a 1980s interior. It comes with opening windows, ideal for (quickly) taking a few fresh air pictures.
I’m really a fan of the little trains on the #Vigezzina 🇮🇹 #Centovalli🇨🇭 railway, in particular of those with opening windows. #SSIF ABe6/6 “Sempione” worked today’s afternoon Regional to #Domodossola, under a perfectly blue sky.

A day out on the #Centovalli🇨🇭 #Vigezzina 🇮🇹 line. The #SSIF #ABe8/8 units, built 1956, are still going strong, including on the #Locarno to #Domodossola “Diretto” services. A “Birra 100”, brewed locally for the line’s centenary and for purchase from the #minibar trolley, comes in handy.
The #Domodossola 🇮🇹 to #Locarno🇨🇭narrow-gauge line still sees units that were built in the late 1950s operating “Diretto” through services on a daily basis. On the photo which I’ve taken at Solduno S. Martino yesterday we see #SSIF ABe8/8 “Ticino” shortly before reaching Locarno.
