Which is why you prey on those who’re weaker… You want to pretend you’re a good guy, right? Heroine, just like Fatal Thorns, or fuckin’ Dazzler, I bet, saving the world from evil?” She snorted, tracing her tongue over her lip as she shook her head. “You’ve been playing pretend, and now? A real threat, someone stronger, is here, and what do you do? Piss all over yourself. Real heroic behavior, Officer.” Mabel lifted the Shepherd’s chin with her knife. “Heroes don’t sexually assault victims… What do Heroes do, Kandusky?” “Th-they help… b-but but! They all asked for it! They wanted to be tr—” The obsidian tip dug in to draw out a wordless whine, stopping the excuse in its tracks. “Ah ah! Mary Mary, so contrary! The only thing I hate more than a bully is a lying bully!”

Cowardly bullies, the whole lot of them. I fucking hate bullies.

No quarter needs to be given, and yet we have so many buying into, "You'll be just as bad as them" paradox, which is a fucking lie.

Have a passage from GSR for some catharsis.

Where once sat the vaguely feline-shaped wisp, now sat a tall and lanky caracal — almost seven feet of lean, naked felid, crossed legs hiding whatever might be there between. Long tufted ears flicked on either side of slicked-back jet black hair, and their eyes were closed tight. Their fur was the warm brown of the desert sand; markings in black gave natural liner to their eyes and between their light-colored brows, crowned by two very familiar onyx-colored horns. Mabel’s darker paw stood out plainly on their bare chest. Behind them, a tail batted languidly to and fro. “Yes, Mabel?” They answered in perfect English, with the barest hint of their former accent, but the voice was still shifting sand. “Uhh…” Mabel scrabbled to the low table and slipped on her visor. “...Relly? Why do they look like they’re related to you?” There was an uncharacteristically long pause before the dragonness managed a response. [Do you think? I… I don’t see it. They are quite handsome, but…]

“I’m dead-ass here, sis. They have your jawline, and some distinctly draconic features, like, I dunno… THE HORNS?!” Mabel’s paw gestured towards her own forehead. [...I mean, maybe a little? Lots of people have horns! I’m getting more striking cheek bones, and sparkling eyes pop-star twink vibes, than like… familial feels.] She offered in the least-convincing tone the lioness had ever heard her utter. “I chose to mimic some of the appearance of an immortal I greatly admired! You mentioned them by name, actually! The hero Gilgamesh!” [...Ah.] “This is not a problem, I hope?” “Not at all! I mean… devastatingly handsome draconic felines wander into my life all the time! Ha ha!” Mabel remembered to blink, as the nervous giggle turned from thought into actual tittering. “Eheh… Relly?”

As we get ready to button up this book, trimming the grissle and honing the edge so to speak, I am just so proud of so many new bits and still love so much of the original words.

Mabel, Agent Greysmoke, in her MK2 outfit. The 40’ish cougar mystical thief is not wearing a formfitting unitard for extra protection, as well as a longer jacket, more armor around her wrists, and a pair of tabi inspired boots. Kept from the previous fit is the white sash, and obsidian stone, now used as a sort of brooch for her waist ornament. On her hood are three jester tails, each ending with a small silver bell. The garment is tight where it needs to be and flowing otherwise allowing for more sleight of hand, and hidden deployment of skills and resources. This catamount is no longer a rookie.

So we got to see Mabel’s first outfit, but what about the second?

After the climactic final battle in Greysmoke: Rising, Mabel decided two things: she needed more options, and she needed to be less predictable.
