The #VineQuilt getting some good action.
#VineQuilt #VineQuilt #VineQuilt!!! I'm so proud of this quilt, you guys. It's my own silly little creation, designed to work well with my poor sewing skills and lack of attention to detail. But it's SO GREAT!!! π§Άπͺ‘
The #VineQuilt is done! The vine quilt is done! Yayayay!
Finished patching all the bad bits on the binding. Tucked in an unruly thread or two.
Pics tomorrow if there's any decent light.
So the good news is the #VineQuilt binding is done! Yay! Huzzah!
The bad news is there are way too many of these. So I need to patch the binding (way simpler than redoing large portions).
I don't know who pinned this binding onto the #VineQuilt but whoever it was did a terrible job.
Bits poking out everywhere. Pins not actually catching all layers. Get it together. Literally.
Another 5 square edges done. That leaves 21 more square edges and a corner until there is one fully functioning #VineQuilt in this house.
95% done!
95%!!!
(Yes, I'm trying to psych myself up to finish this. Let me have it.)
The #VineQuilt is up to 94% done! THIS WILL HAPPEN!
I've finished two sides of the binding (the perimeter), a bit on the third side, and three corners. So it's the rest of this side, then one more (long) side, and then ahhhhhh waaaaarmth!
The #VineQuilt feels much heavier than the Blue & Gold quilt. It's probably because of the hundreds of straight and safety pins still in the binding! π€£
Posting a couple of #VineQuilt π§Ά pics because I -am- working on it! Just slowly! And quietly!
Just the binding now.
The stitching is (for me) pretty damn good. This is actually not the best stretch of it, but it's what was uppermost. Eh.
The #VineQuilt is coming along.
Pinning the binding on yesterday was important. It means the last step - sewing the stupid stuff on - is a lot simpler. Everything is measured, in place, ready to go.
I got one of the mitered corners sewn tonight and almost 2 squares. That puts me at 87%!
So many pins.
Sooooo many pins. #VineQuilt
Much like Kaylee's dress, it's soooo fluffy.
Ironed the #VineQuilt a smidge to get out the wrinkles from when I rolled it up during the months-long quilting process. Looks a bit better. I will trim the edges and pin the binding and hope beyond hope that I have enough π€£
The #VineQuilt is wrinkly, but it's also ready to have its edges trimmed.
Why is that so scary?
15th row quilted on the #VineQuilt.
One to go.
One. More. Bloody. Row.
They're not even that difficult. 4 inches of relatively straight stitching. It's just really freaking difficult to do.
Anyway, should be done tomorrow or Friday #FamousLastWords and then I can start the binding!
I know everyone thinks I just let the #VineQuilt go, but I didn't! Honest!
I -did- kinda lose my mojo on it, since actual quilting is a royal pain in the ass and I have literally one place in the house it can physically be done.
But I'm up to 12 rows quilted (of 16), so it's coming along. Slowly.
FINALLY.
I am already regretting the design choices π€£ But that's fine. It'll be great for its intended purpose!
(Yes, I know the actual #VineQuilt is still waiting. It's REALLY hot though and the quilts are WARM.)
WHAT.
DO.
YOU.
MEAN.
I.
HAVE.
FOURTEEN.
FLIPPING.
TRIANGLES.

#VineQuilt
In the interest of completing some task, any task on the #VineQuilt, I made more perimeter binding strips.
It's not a vine pattern (but it was something I had in stash, right color family, and complemented the vine fabrics).
This stuff from the blue & gold quilt.

The #VineQuilt is 80% complete! π₯³π₯³
I hit the halfway mark on the quilting stitches.
I have to roll the thing up in order to easily flip it over (with every stitch), so it's gotten a bit wrinkled. Hopefully that shakes out. It was originally pinned VERY straight, so.... π€·ββοΈ
Looks good, though, huh?
Did another two rows of quilt stitches on the #VineQuilt, kids. That's 22 of 59 of those. Brings me to 78% done with the thing.
Next time I unpin it to get to the next bit, I will take a picture. It may not be as even (or as straight) as I wanted, but it's looking good anyway. From afar. Blurrily.
ooooh spreadsheet says it's 75% done!
I think the #VineQuilt may be a winner after all.
1 down, 58 to go.
The #VineQuilt quilting has begun!
This one definitely isn't great, but that's ok. I have (mostly) figured it out.
I'm having a lot of the same problems I had last time - doubling the batting made it too thick to work properly for my skill level. That's ok, I'll make it work!
Should have tagged this earlier. Sorry. Have a pic of the batting in its pre-sewn state! #VineQuilt
Two more rows done in the #VineQuilt! That means four to go, and then I cut out the back pieces and sew them together. SO EXCITING!!!
We have achieved HALFWAY STATUS!!!!!
53.07% of a #VineQuilt, to be precise. And it's lookin' goooooooood.
Yeah, I bang on about the #VineQuilt but that's because it's SO FREAKING AWESOME.
(Last two rows are only pinned in so far, hence them being weirdly short.)
I'll get at least one row sewn tonight, and another pinned.
In addition to painting a wee little painting AND in addition to sewing in another row on my #VineQuilt, I also made a nice panettone last night, lads.
Yes, those are chocolate chips. Guittard chocolate chips.
Two more rows are done, and good to go.
That brings me up to 45% done on the #VineQuilt. Eighth row is pinned and ready, let's see if I can get it done tomorrow!
The first five rows are together! Plus another is pinned, but that's it for sewing for tonight.
The #VineQuilt is, according to my very happy little spreadsheet, 39% completed. This is gonna WORK!!!!
