In a statement issued on July 5, a Government of India spokesperson clarified, “There is no requirement from the Government of India to withhold Reuters, and we are continuously working with X to resolve the problem.” However, questions persist over the increasing friction between the Indian government and international media. A Mysterious Takedown The sudden unavailability of Reuters' X account to Indian users sparked speculation of a government-initiated takedown.
