Big Tech wants Wisconsinites to pay for their data centers. We need to speak up.  • Wisconsin Examiner As we prepare for the PSC to make a decision on data centers, we need to make our voices heard to decision makers:

Wisconsin shouldn't subsidize Big Tech’s electric bills. 💸

We Energies is planning massive gas plants for OpenAI & Oracle. These "stranded assets" risk driving up our rates for decades. It’s time to demand that Big Tech pays its fair share. 😤 #WeEnergies #Wisconsin #DataCenters

Wisconsinites decry data center effects on utility bills, climate in online town hall About 100 Wisconsinites joined a virtual town hall hosted by Citizen Action of Wisconsin Wednesday evening to share how data center developments across the state are harming local residents through the increased use of energy. Over the past year, data centers have become an increasingly potent issue in the state as the number of data […]

WE Energies wants to raise rates again, because apparently our wallets haven’t suffered enough. Wisconsin families should not be footing the bill for corporate power games. Make the data centers pay their own damned way! #Wisconsin #WEEnergies #DataCenters

The Electric Utility That Keeps Failing Us — and We Still Pay the Price We’ve long tolerated the inconvenient truth about investor-owned utilities: they’re private companies delivering a public necessity.

We Energies Extends Life of Oak Creek Power Plant Until 2026 We Energies has adjusted the schedule for decommissioning the Oak Creek power plant, opting to keep Units 7 and 8 operational until 2026. This decision stems from evolving energy market dynamics in the Midwest, where available power supply is becoming increasingly constrained. Maintaining these units ensures We Energies can continue providing dependable electricity, particularly when energy needs are at their highest. Oak Creek Units 7 and 8 combined represent a power generation capacity of 610 Megawatts and are equipped with updated environmental control technology. Importantly, this extension of the plant's lifespan doesn't alter We Energies’ broader strategy for future power generation. The company remains committed to adding more than 6,300 Megawatts of new capacity over the next five years through a diverse portfolio of resources including natural gas, wind energy, solar power, and battery storage solutions. We Energies provides electric and natural gas service to over 1.1 million customers in Wisconsin. The company’s announcement also contains the standard cautionary language regarding forward-looking statements, acknowledging potential uncertainties and risks that could impact future performance.
