After the global financial crisis, a key question emerged: Does aid actually work?
The evidence from our research showed consistency: overall, aid delivers a high return. For 40 years, research to improve the lives of the world’s poorest has been central to our mission.

In the early 2000s, UNU-WIDER highlighted inequality by showing the richest 2% own about half of global wealth, while the poorest half holds just 1%. The findings sparked global movements.
