That's exactly it. ST3 is probably the most important infrastructure project in the region this century. #waleg acted like it didn't matter. School funding is in crisis. #waleg did nothing. Even a simple copper theft bill died. These are not serious people, and challenges are needed.
Primary challenges are good and healthy for a political party. As the Dem majority in #waleg fails on issue after issue, voters can't reasonably turn to the MAGAfied WA GOP to solve it. So primary challenges offer ways to debate policy, hold electeds accountable, and change direction as needed.

There was a lot of discussion about affordable grocery stores during this session of #waleg.
If Democrats want to be seen as authentically fighting for affordability, they need to have the courage to call out their coalition allies when they’re working against that goal.
Agreed, the 520 bridge is a better analogy in my mind. That was phased too, but when costs soared on remaining portion from Montlake to I-5, #waleg didn't tell WSDOT that the project would be abandoned or deferred. Legislators wrote a check and now it's under way. Even for the Roanoke Lid.

I think the way out is:
1. Pressure #waleg to step up and help fix this.
2. Threaten the ST board with governance reform.
