Yesterday whilst take a chilly mooch through an ancient woodland, we happened across some little green gems lurking in the sparse dry moss loosely covering a historic earth boundary bank, under some big old holly bushes so well shaded.

Makes me both full of awe (that they still exist at all, let alone in number) and so bloody scared for their future
My favourite Waxcap now fruiting. The Splendid Waxcap (Hygrocybe splendidissima) is a somewhat similar colour to the much more common Scarlet Waxcap but the cap shape is different and the stipe is usually stout, twisted and contorted. The species can smell faintly of honey. #FungiFriends #Waxcaps

Amanita citrina, and pale yellowish-white toadstool with fabulous base and slightly scaly cap, amongst leaves on a woodland floor.
Gliophorus psittacinus, a small mushroom. With a glistening orange and green cap, and a green stem, growing amongst grassy vegetation.
Nothing uncommon, but it's nice to see fungi appearing locally, including this False Deathcap Amanita citrina and Parrot Waxcap Gliophorus psittacinus. #fungi #waxcaps #KentNature
