“In a time when building community can feel a bit tricky, these small, welcoming hang-out spaces really matter,” say the Boston #Camerados who have started a stitch-and-mend at their Public Living Room. Many people find it easier to chat with others while their hands are busy.
#WeAreCamerados
What would you put in the time capsule to show future folk what your Public Living Room was like? how it felt, and why it mattered. There’s no right answer. We’re not looking for the “best” thing, just something that feels true to your #PublicLivingRoom.
#WeAreCamerados
One of our favourite Burns poems is To a Louse, a poem he wrote after spotting a louse crawling around on the very fancy hat of a lady in church. Burns gently reminds us that no matter how polished, important, or put-together we look… we’re all human.
#WeAreCamerados
Burns Night is nearly here, and we have decided to create Robert Burns-inspired principles in his honour! In his poem Address to the Unco Guid, he challenges people who are quick to judge or feel morally superior. He asks us to look at each other gently, especially when we disagree.
#WeAreCamerados
Are you celebrating Burns Night in your Public Living Room?
Lots of folk in the movement do, including Stonehaven!
If you’re doing anything Burns-y in your Living Room this week, we’d love to see it. ❤️

Our latest Camerados zine is ready! If you can, print just one copy and leave it out for people to pick up, flick through, and talk about.

Sorry to interrupt your mid-morning biscuit break, but it’s time for our January challenge… Tell 10 different people about your #PublicLivingRoom
(Not Mr Benn, though. He’s just one bloke dressed up as a bunch of different blokes, and that would be cheating.)
#WeAreCamerados
There aren’t any lukewarm brews in Lochgilphead, because #Camerado Isobel knitted some clothes for one of the teapots. Doesn’t it look fabulous?
(Although, let’s be honest, Camerados teapots look pretty good naked too.)
Keep your eyes peeled for our January challenge 👀
#WeAreCamerados
Come along, have some fun and share how 2025 treated you. And let’s talk about how we, as camerados, can help stop 2026 from becoming more polarised.
We can’t wait to see you there.

This month, we’re turning up the warmth. To celebrate 10 years of Camerados, your December challenge is to gather 10 people to create something cosy for your Public Living Room. Take a pic of your cosy creations and share with us on social media with the hashtag #CameradosIs10

There were many reactions to the Confessions of the Custard Cream Lovers learning event, from surprise to thinking, love to mind blown! Thanks to everyone who came along, and we were so chuffed to hear that folk thought it was the best webinar they had been to in a long time!

Can you imagine a Public Living Room in every neighbourhood? If you're able, we'd love you to support our crowdfunder to give others a chance to create these spaces in their communities.

A lovely little bunch of Camerados gathered in the Public Living Room on the Quayside, just outside the Meet the Moment event at the Watershed in Bristol, a day devoted to navigating differences of opinion through the arts, because the arts have that rare power to move hearts & minds
#WeAreCamerados
Did you know we have a festive range of #Camerados clothing? Friday, the 12th of December, is the last day to order from the Camerados shop to get cool merch in time for Christmas. You don't need to get your tinsel in a twist. Visit www.Shopcamerados.co.uk today!

So proud for #Camerados to be part of the recent #WellTogether day. We brought a Public Living Room and it was filled with awesome folk from the moment we fluffed the first cushion.
#WeAreCamerados
Not everyone loves Halloween, and that’s okay.
What matters is coming together, even when we disagree and see things differently. If the world feels a bit scary, or life’s just tough right now, get together with others. Being alongside one another can make all the difference. 🎃💛

Behind the scenes at Camerados: the van's packed again, beanbags, sofas, fairy lights, the lot. Feels like real-life Tetris. We all see things differently, and that's the magic. It's not about being perfect, it's about mucking in together (with a brew at the end). ☕💛
#WeAreCamerados
It's really easy to pop up a #PublicLivingRoom. Bury Park Community Centre in Luton, grab a sofa and put the kettle on
every now and then. Why not give it a go where you are? Get in touch at cuppa@camerados.org to have a cuppa with somebody from the movement who has already done it!
#WeAreCamerados
Did you know that one of our six principles is 'To be silly is to be human'
Check out these awesome pics of the #Camerados at Lincoln City FC having fun and being a bit silly wearing giant pants!
How do you have fun in your #PublicLivingRoom? Let us know in the comments 👇

Lovely jubbley, this week's chats about #PublicLivingRooms are from all around the world. Want one in your neighbourhood? Get in touch at cuppa@camerados.org. You'll speak to someone who's already creating a space in one of our communities. You know it makes sense. Cushty. #WeAreCamerados
Big love to the Can-Do crew at Paddington Square and Knight Frank Promises who let us plonk a #PublicLivingRoom outside the Tube for #WorldMentalHealthDay.
#WeAreCamerados
Loo and behold! Urine for an adventure this month! To celebrate 10 years of #Camerados, we’ve brewed up a bladder-busting challenge.
We know it sounds loo-di-crous, but this un-toilet-able task will bowl you over!

#WeAreCamerados
If there’s one way to come up with ideas, it’s letting loose with some chalk on the pavement and inviting the whole community to join you. The Boston Camerados did just that at their 'Chalk It Up' get-together. They’ve collected tons of ideas for a mural, we can’t wait to see it
#WeAreCamerados
It's surprising what people talk about when they feel at ease. Have you ever shared any interesting facts in your #PublicLivingRoom? Whilst doodling moustaches on the latest zine or brushing the Hob-Nob crumbs from your jumper?
#WeAreCamerados
Recently, we've been asked: What has the Camerados movement (the principles and Public Living Rooms) contributed towards long-term societal change?
If Camerados has changed how you think, the way you relate to others, or the way you work, then please tell us in the comments below!

The wonderful Camerados in their Public Living Room in Ardrishaig primary. Delighted to spend the afternoon with them, chatting, eating biscuits, playing games and drinking tea. 💛 #WeAreCamerados @camerados-org.bsky.social
When there's 'beef' and the atmosphere is 'heated', and we're 'locking horns', what if instead of a 'barney' we stepped back from the 'spat', put the kettle on, and chatted about our 'clash'? Over a pot of tea.

Funny thing about chatting in #PublicLivingRooms, you start on one topic and suddenly you are light-years away talking about something completely different...

What's in your visitors' book?
A while ago, we sent out visitor books to Public Living Rooms, and we're curious! Have you put yours out yet? What's written inside? A funny doodle, an interesting quote, something that made you laugh out loud or tear up a bit?

Our #CameradoClair brought a #PublicLivingRoom to the Out of the Ordinary Festival.
Clair has taken to the streets all summer, popping up #PublicLivingRooms in and around St Neots. Well done, Clair! 👏🛋️
