A study published in #WeaClimateSoc by @sean-ernst-wx.bsky.social & co (incl @mjkrocak.bsky.social & @wwwehde.bsky.social) found that survey respondents who described their feelings about extreme weather in positive terms rated significantly higher on tornado preparedness.

European lightning deaths skew toward males (77.8%), teens, and SE Europe (especially Bulgaria), finds a #WeaClimateSoc study by researchers at @essl-ecss.bsky.social. Of 1,282 recorded lightning fatalities over 2001-2020, many were farm workers or hikers.

A #WeaClimateSoc study of large outdoor public gatherings in the U.S. found that amusement parks, MLB games, and state fairs during March-August have the greatest potential human exposure to lightning and tornadoes overall.
