Un nuovo studio pubblicato su The Astrophysical Journal Letters evidenzia come il centro della Via Lattea e misteriose proto-galassie primordiali note come “little red dots” (LRD) ospitino buchi neri massicci all’interno di ambienti ricchi di gas e polvere ma relativamente pacifici. Queste condizioni creano veri e propri laboratori naturali per la chimica prebiotica, suggerendo che l’universo potrebbe aver sostenuto i precursori chimici della vita molto prima di quanto si pensasse.

Tau 042021 si trova a circa 450 anni luce dalla Terra nella costellazione del Taurus, mentre Oph 163131 è situato a circa 480 anni luce nella costellazione di Ophiuchus.

Dischi protoplanetari come questi si formano attorno a stelle nate da poco.

Nell’immagine a destra vediamo la regione intorno al sistema Wd1-72, osservata con Miri a 10 micron. La posizione di Wd1-72 è indicata da una stella. Si possono notare piccoli frammenti di gas e polvere che sembrano “correre” verso Wd1-72. La maggior parte di questi frammenti ha una forma allungata, mentre quelli sul lato destro dell’immagine puntano invece verso il centro dell’ammasso stellare. A sinistra c’è una rappresentazione del modello evolutivo, che mostra come i frammenti espulsi da Wd1-72 si muovono e cambiano forma nel tempo. Le aree evidenziate con linee tratteggiate servono a confrontare direttamente il modello con ciò che osserviamo nello spazio, aiutandoci a capire meglio la dinamica di questo sistema stellare.
