A blustery one for today's #wednesdaymorningwander so opted for a shorter stroll at Southey Woods. Keeping to the trees cut out a lot of the wind!

Luckily more sunshine than showers, and trails definitely drying out so quite an easy woodland wander ๐Ÿ˜Š

Glorious #wednesdaymorningwander today - blue skies, sunshine, warmth, green shoots everywhere. What more could you want?

As it turns out, a little less mud would be great, but nonetheless, what a joyous day to be out in the countryside ๐Ÿ˜

A #WednesdayMorningWander with the son today, who graciously decided to spend a couple of hours of his first day off in a month tramping around with his mum - bless 'im!

A glimpse of sunshine for our 6-mile amble around #stamford - most enjoyable!

Good leg-stretch for today's #WednesdayMorningWander following some tracks and trails from history.

Just shy of 5 miles, out along Roman Ermine Street, and back following the route of an old Victorian railway line. Feeling much better for that!

Sunshine and daffodils! What a gorgeous morning for a #WednesdayMorningWander around Barnack and Ufford. Just lovely to be out, enjoying a perfect morning for walking.

Almost made me forget the still-considerable amounts of mud out there!!

Trying to avoid too much mud on today's #WednesdayMorningWander. A loop of Helpston and along the Maxey Cut - which is definitely showing the after-effects of a *lot* of rain. There is usually a lot of growing vegetation along the banks - currently completely submerged!

#WednesdayMorningWander with son this morning, and it was a grey - but dry! - one at #rutlandwater.

5 miles felt like fair effort for a visit to the wonderful Hambleton Bakery for our post-walk coffee stop ๐Ÿ˜‹

This morning's #WednesdayMorningWander took me to #rutlandwater where incendiary sheep are apparently one of the risks I was less aware of...!

Only a short #WednesdayMorningWander today, as sacrificed a bit of time to go and sort out some new walking boots for son.

But sunshine and blue sky too good to miss, so we stopped off for a quick couple of miles in the woods on the way home before back to work!

Some impressive skies over #stamford this afternoon!

Nice 5-mile stroll with son, swapping my usual #WednesdayMorningWander for a Tuesday afternoon as I need to be in a meeting in London tomorrow. Given tomorrow's forecast is for rain, rain and more rain, not too sorry to get my fresh air today!

Had some company for this morning's #WednesdayMorningWander.

Son was between taxi jobs and joined me for a nice 3.5 mile amble along Maxey Cut. Not the most dramatic scenery, but avoided the early ice and frost, and the sun on the water looked quite beautiful.

Off work for a few days, so swapped my usual #WednesdayMorningWander for a longer run up at #rutlandwater.

Nice to have ice-free paths again, but goodness that wind was lively ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. A proper resistance workout slogging across the dam today. Was definitely glad of a warm hat!

Final #WednesdayMorningWander of 2025 and it was a gloriously frosty and frozen one to round out the year. 4 miles around Helpston, slightly marred by a 40-minute hold up at Woodside crossing. Apparently the new timetable is playing havoc with the manual crossings on the line.

Absolutely stunning winter blue sky for this morning's #WednesdayMorningWander - making up for the chilly nose and toes!

I'm on call for most of Christmas so not travelling too far from home. A few miles around the Deepings made for a good walk!

Today's #WednesdayMorningWander took in Stamford's iconic concrete crocodile.

Because who doesn't love a concrete crocodile at Christmas...?

The Green Wheel between Etton and Glinton provided a bit of a firmer footway for this morning's #WednesdayMorningWander. After all the recent rain, I opted out of muddy footpaths!

A glorious winter morning for a stroll, getting my Vitamin D hit for the day!

Perfect winter morning for today's #WednesdayMorningWander - taking in Burghley Park and #stamford. A cold but sunny morning made for perfect conditions for a brisk walk - followed by a hot chocolate, of course...!

Absolutely glorious wintry day for a #WednesdayMorningWander today! 6 miles around Maxey and the Deepings, finishing up at Willowbrook farm shop for a well-earned bacon butty!

Everything looking especially bright and crisp under blue sky and sunshine โ„๏ธ๐ŸŒž.

Really good #WednesdayMorningWander around #stamford this morning. 6 miles taking in old town streets, muddy footpaths and bridleways, leafy lanes and Burghley park.

A fab leg stretch - so much to see and enjoy!

Today's #WednesdayMorningWander took me for 5 miles around the lanes and footpaths of Maxey, and along the Maxey Cut.

Perfect walking conditions - cool, calm and dry, with some glorious autumn colour to brighten the miles. Perfect!

Had to run a few errands in town this morning so today's #WednesdayMorningWander was a bit of a backyard affair.

Autumn definitely putting its best foot forward in Burghley Park - another week or two and the colours will just glow!

Today's #WednesdayMorningWander comes to you courtesy of Thursday! Had to swap my morning off this week as I was working in London. Lovely to get out and enjoy some early autumn trails. Hoping for some nice weather to get out and enjoy seeing the colours changing.

First time out on the kayak for a few weeks - my #WednesdayMorningWander has been on dry land for various reasons!

Really enjoyed getting back out on the water this morning. Breezy and a bit of light rain, but so much wildlife to spot!

Very soggy #WednesdayMorningWander today up at #rutlandwater.

Am I glad I swapped out my trainers for goretex walking shoes and my rain jacket for my dryrobe? Yes, yes I am very glad, since you mention it! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Lovely to have a bit of company for my #WednesdayMorningWander today. Son decided to join for a good 6-mile amble on the lanes and bridleways around Helpston and Etton.

Worked up a good appetite for a farm shop bacon butty afterwards too!

Only time for a quick #WednesdayMorningWander today as I'm still playing washing machine ping-pong with friends and neighbours while we wait for an engineer (again ๐Ÿ™„).

Successfully dodged all the rain though, so I'll take that for the win!

A brisk NNE wind and the remnants of last night's rain made today's #WednesdayMorningWander feel almost autumnal. First time I've felt the need to take so light rain jacket in months!

Still nice to get out for a 3-mile tramp over damp fields and footpaths. Feeling I earned my bacon butty! ๐Ÿ˜‹

Bit of a John Clare odyssey for this morning's #WednesdayMorningWander. Famous as the 'Peasant Poet', Clare found early fame but struggled with mental health issues.

His birthplace is now a lovely little museum and cafe - a nice end to an enjoyable country walk.

Unexpected company for my #WednesdayMorningWander today. Happened to pass son returning from a taxi job so he joined me for a leisurely amble. Lovely out there now the flippin' wind has finally dropped. Really enjoyable stroll and chat!

Back to my #WednesdayMorningWander after our holiday. Just an easy, relaxing stroll this morning after last night's sports massage - not wanting to stress my legs.

Maxey Cut looking lovely with a carpet of wild flowers along the waterside!
