On Dec. 15, 1904, Charleston, WVโs Wire Suspension Bridge collapsed into the Elk River. Horses, wagons, and schoolchildren fell into icy waters, killing two children, Mamie Higgenbotham and Ray Humphreys. A tragic reminder of the importance of safe infrastructure. #appalachia #westvirginiahistory
