I stumbled across this #HistoricalMarker as I was running errands yesterday.
Today, I have dropped everything to take advantage of the (temporarily) fine weather and go on a day trip. Knowing why Charlotte and Anne #Brontë stayed in #York in 1849, I’m sure many of you can guess where I’m headed…

A landscape phone photograph of the central portion of Mendoza Park, Puerto Princesa City on a cumuli-sunny afternoon, with a newly-installed historical marker consisting of six concrete-and-glazed stone lab pillars bearing the names of over three hundred Filipino guerilla soldiers who bravely laid down their lives during the Japanese army occupation of Palawan during 1941-1944 (sorted by company/contingent type), arranged in a concentric pattern and facing a central marble bench sculpture. Behind are a statue of prominent figure Higinio A. Mendoza, one of the marytrs and leader of said guerilla movement, as well as the current building of the PPUR Office, respectively. Also seen are a number of Philippine flags in their usual peace placement, strewn about on the guardrails around the statue.
