I had my first burger of this trip back to the US. I had this one neat (without fries or any other caloric distractions) and will chase it later with a long walk. This is a “Signature” burger from Graze in #WesterlyRI. Cost $11 + tax and tip. Friendly service. Portion seems just right for me.

Salami grinder on a plate on top of a countertop. This sandwich included a generous helping of salami, as well as a good proportion of provolone cheese. The bread was a reasonably good Italian-style loaf, not airy and tasteless. The thin tomato slices were ok; gourmet or vine ripened tomatoes would be out of place in such a sandwich IMHO. I wouldn't mind twice as much of the finely shaved iceberg lettuce. Dressed amply with olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper.

Cross section of salami grinder. 🥖 IMHO this sandwich could have been improved by halving the amount of bread and doubling the amount of lettuce. 🍅 I suppose in this area, this is a proper “small” sandwich, so its present configuration probably better satisfies the shop's regular customers. 🚶‍♀️ I won't complain, since I walked 4 miles to pick it up and bring it back. 💰 $8 with tax (no tip is probably necessary because this is made to order at a counter of a grocery store, however in lieu of a tip I made an impulse buy of 1/4 pound of green and black olives).

The counter at this store reminds me of small grocery stores where we used to buy such sandwiches when I was growing up.

There were many tempting cold cuts, sausages, cheeses and other delectables in the refrigerated display.
