It features a long, pointed bill, a short, erect white crest, and a pinkish patch between the eyes. Its underwings display a pale yellow hue. Western corellas inhabit farmlands and river valleys, often forming large, noisy flocks. Their diet consists primarily of corms and seeds. They can be seen moving between feeding locations, and are well known for their loud calls. Two subspecies are recognised.
