Is it a watch?
Or is it an arm shackle with a timer?
Kill the colonizer in your head.
Isn't it nuts that we expect the people with the least to provide the most??
But that's how it is. By design. Because we let the people with the worst morals and intentions create the culture and the system.
It doesn't have to be this way.

Scarcity is key to all of this, because if we could magically get our needs met from just anywhere, the whole model collapses. Now we aren't desperate and unsafe and clawing at each other for survival. Then the middle-rung won't knee-jerk enforce the inequalities on behalf of the top rung [โฆ]
Here's the secret to how it works, and why it's so difficult for white women to understand.
If you don't get what you need from the whim, grace, or mercy of someone above you in the tier of power, then you are expected to get it from someone below you.
This works ALL the way down. (And it [โฆ]
Thing is, too, the guy is a poker player.
I hope all his future opponents use this loudly broadcasted tell to get him tilted in every tournament.

Anyway, I'm rooting for Prela now. She's the toughest one on this show, in every possible way. She's my role model.

You'll also see, as you set aside ridiculous myths about how racism works, that sometimes POC act like asshats, too. If you're not using their behavior to justify the poor behavior of white folks, you'll learn that everyone is unique, and we all react to our oppression differently. A number of [โฆ]
Watching competition reality shows with woke theory in mind makes them so much more interesting. And enlightening.
Season 2 of Squid Game: The Challenge, a team of two women (one of color) strategically set back a pair of men. Hell hath no fury like the white guy, who SEETHED at the Black woman [โฆ]
I think ultimately, if we accept nonsensical standards of offense, we've given up our authority (as individuals and as society) to decide our own standards of offense. We've ceded our ability to critically think and morally reason. We've decided that authority gets to arbitrarily decide and [โฆ]
One time in my early 20s, I was traveling with my mom to Seaside, Oregon. I forget why. I think she was going to a craft show and I tagged along for the beach. I had a baby by then, a single parent. I was in no need of sheltering.
The hotel was a small independent B&B type place. When we got to [โฆ]
So now when I see a YouTuber euphemize or unironically bleep a term to avoid being demonetized, I break a little inside.
We've come so far, and now we're going to let them take us back to when everything was rated PG??
If we let that happen, we'll lose all the rest of the progress we've made [โฆ]
When the Beastie Boys sang about fighting for the right to party, they were right about that NEED, and we did win that right, and it is NOT a trivial thing.
After the ending of the Hayes Code, these touchy sensibilities persisted, but my generation was not having it. We fought for the right to [โฆ]
A few more thoughts on this so I don't lose them. I could write this better ifI took the time, but I just want it out there. In terms of decolonizating and unpacking the racism embedded in Mormonism...
Growing up Mormon gave me a deep perspective of whiteness as a cult taken to an extreme. Some [โฆ]
Plot of the Book of Mormon:
The land in North America was empty so God gave it to the Nephites because they were so righteous, but the wicked members of their family were cursed with dark skin for not listening to their father, so they split into two groups, with the dark skinned guys usually [โฆ]
I've got *so many* projects I'd like to take up if I weren't sick and needing to make money.
While much has been said about the racism of Mormonism, I don't think it's been fully unpacked. Like, it's one thing to refuse priesthood to Black men (and women, but women are still barred). It's a [โฆ]
Comedy is my way of masking how pissed off I am at these guys' nakedly transparent racism.
Whiteness is a Cult and Mormonism is the whiteness is a cult as a cult-cult.

Whiteness isnโt skinโitโs a cage built to divide the poor. Nancy from Mississippi felt it crack. Now sheโs free to fight as a human, not a category. #WhitenessIsACult #GlobalMajority @karenhunter.bsky.social
There's a reason I don't take any of these claims for granted. See, I was raised in a world where animals weren't conscious. That was the consensus worldview, in science, in religion. Human beings were the only species with souls, with self-awareness, with the ability to think. Animals could [โฆ]
Assumptions are mental walls we build between things. I like to compare politicized ideas to similar non-politicized ideas to break down assumptions.
Race is a construct.
Gender is a construct.
Money is a construct.
Language is a construct.
Art is a construct.
Music is a construct.
But! But! [โฆ]
We unite under the banner of "Everyone deserves personal empowerment, fair treatment, an equal voice, an equal slice of power, and to be free from harm. An injury to one is an injury to all." Only those who prove through their behavior that they intend to cause harm or control others will be [โฆ]
This is why intersectionality is so powerful. Because when you only dismantle each dividing control element one at a time, the other gaps can easily be filled by the other dividing control mechanisms.
So feminism that only tackles sexism ends up as TERFdom, which must reinforce its transphobia [โฆ]
It would be interesting to explore the differences between racism and sexism/gender essentialism in smaller cults, to understand the roles of control each concept plays, then expand that out to larger society.
The clear difference is that gender divides happen within a group as small as a [โฆ]
Most American (and Western) cults are tied in some way to mainstream cultural ideals. Yes, cults are countercultural, but only to a degree, and these patriarchal ideas are deeply core to most, even those that seem to be pushing against them.
(Racism plays the same role in many such cults as [โฆ]
The confusion anyone feels when encountering queer issues is cognitive dissonance trying to make sense of patriarchy, which only makes sense under false pretenses, so there's a drive to cling to those false pretenses to maintain a sense of sanity.
It's exactly the same as when a cult member [โฆ]
The mental health and therapy fields are often problematic.
But as a trend, they are decolonizing Western culture a great deal, particularly when it comes to how we relate to our bodies, our emotions, to each other, and to nature. Many mental health principles coming out are undoing abuse [โฆ]
When us white folks tell Black folks what they should do to avoid racism, that's condescending and assumes that we know more than they do about issues they're the experts in because they live it.
You see how that's just more racism, right?
RIGHT???
Listening. Listening to understand. That is [โฆ]

When I left Mormonism (which is, IMO, an ethnicity, and one I'm still part of), I had an outside culture to move into. Fortunately, it was even a culture that I'd been largely exposed to. (Not everyone who leaves a cult has that.)
Whiteness IS a cult. It carries all the markers and the control [โฆ]
