I have a special interest in #wildcrafting and #herbalmedicine. Winter is not usually a great time to observe plants. However, the lack of foliage exposed rosehips, nettles, wild crab apples, an abundance of mushroom species, snow berries, mountain ash.

Today I dress like an idiot and do dumb things. Here at the #homestead I have identified another native plant Creeping Cucumber (Melothria pendula) aka Melonette #garden #gardening TikTok video by Bishop Whitewind

This is how I learned every plant I know from #wildcrafting and #herbalism.
Once I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing I eat some and see if I die. So far so good yeehaw.

I started some Vin de Noix today! We foraged some green walnuts, then added orange rind, vanilla bean, clove, cinnamon, sugar, vodka and red wine. It has to sit for a month before straining and then letting it age for 3+ months.

I did some foraging this weekend. Fronie has been a great companion, she's getting things figured out :) I made sumac tea and powder, foraged prickly ash berries that are drying, and have elderberries marinating overnight :) All firsts for me!

Cleared out some brush down by the pond and the kids helped me process it - the left pile is going in the shredder to become mulch, the right is gonna go to weave "wattle & daub" style wicker raised beds, fences, terraces on contour, etc. #landscaping #permaculture #wildcrafting

#nativeplants BARESTEM BISCUITROOT (Lomatium nudicaule), edible member of the Carrot family.

I marvel at the strength & simplicity of this design.
NOTE the lack of bracts subtending the umbel
a feature of all #LOMATIUMS
