A red deer stag roars with its head back and mouth wide open. In the background a tree has just a hint of yellow autumn colour.
Autumn is the time of the Rut and the sound of roaring stags echoing around the woods and fields surrounding Raby Castle, Teesdale, UK really is something special.

Bank vole climbing up flower stems in our garden. The pic is just a still from a video so not the best quality, but it was a nice encounter. #bankvole #wildlife #wildlifephotography #wildteesdale #gardenforwildlife

I spotted this newly fledged Wood Pigeon this morning while out filming in Teesdale. #wildlifephotography #birdphotography #spring #teesdale #northpennines #wildteesdale
Wood Mouse, these and Bank Voles have been tricky to film. Interestingly the wood mouse is much more aggressive than I had imaged, especially towards other wee critters such as voles. #Wildlifephotography #WildTeesdale #Documentary #Teesdale
Wild Garlic path in Teesdale, County Durham this morning. Truly beautiful with the sound of birds and the smell of wild garlic, which is not a pungent as earlier in the season when they first begin to flower. #wildgarlic #teesdale #woodland #countydurham #landscapephotography #wildteesdale
Early bird gets the worm from this mornings filming. Quite literally for this Thrush as this was not long after sunrise, which comes up at just after 5.00am at the moment. #wildteesdale #spring
Spotted this Dipper while out filming in Teesdale this morning. Dipper are Britain's only aquatic songbird. It's a beautiful song if you are lucky enough to be able to hear it above the sound of the river.

A lovely little Wren singing this morning while I was out filming just after dawn. They have a beautiful song which is incredibly loud for such a small bird. #WildTeesdale #Wren #Teesdale #DawnChorus
A yellow Sun Spurge flower (centre) is growing next to a sapling. To the right the white flower is a wood sorrel. These are emerging from a moss covered log. The overall scene is one of fresh green spring growth.
A mini woodland landscape of Sun Spurge (Euphorbia helioscopia), a sapling which may be Hazel and Wood Sorrel (Oxalis acetosella) all growing on a moss covered log. Teesdale, County Durham, UK #woodland #flora #reesdale #wildteesdale
This colourful pheasant has a lot of feathers missing from it's head and neck. This often happens in the spring when the males become very territorial and fight each other.
This poor pheasant looks to have been in the wars this morning. Ten metres away from this one, another pheasant was so aggressive it stood its ground vocalising and flapping it wings at the car (I avoided it). I suspect this one had just been in a scrap with the one I met. #wildteesdale #teesdale
A shot of a Dipper I captured in some nice golden light recently. River Tees, Teesdale, County Durham, UK

A Toothwort (Lathraea squamaria) flower we found the other day while out filming. This a parasitic woodland species that is completely lacking in chlorophyll. Location: Teesdale, County Durham, UK

I was out filming Dipper again yesterday and spotted this one having a bit of a tussle with a leaf - who won do you think? They do make me smile ๐
Note: Bluesky compression seriously affects the video quality, but in reality the vid is tack sharp at 4K #WildTeesdale #Teesdale #BirdPhotography
Frogs doing their spring thing last week in Teesdale. After a short warm spell the ponds are now frozen over again as will be the top layers of frogspawn. #Wildlife #Nature #WildlifePhotography #WildTeesdale
I have been out filming Dipper again this week. I rarely get chance to swap the camera to stills mode so this shot is a still frame from the video. Watching the water bead off their feathers as they duck in and out of the water is a wonderful sight. #Teesdale #WildTeesdale #Dipper #RiverTees
