It’s Carers Week (9–15 June) and this year’s theme is Caring About Equality — shining a light on the challenges unpaid carers face, especially when trying to balance work and caring for a loved one. If you’re working and caring for someone, here’s what support you can get: 1) Flexible working – You have the right to ask your employer for changes to your hours or working pattern. 2) Carer’s Leave Act (2024) – You’re now entitled to take up to 5 days of unpaid leave per year to help with caring duties. 3) Financial support – If your caring role affects your income, you might be eligible for: * Carer’s Allowance * Carer’s Element of Universal Credit * Council Tax discounts * Local grants and support You’re not alone — and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.
