Mood board for THE GAMES OF LOVE with pictures of the ice at a skating event, a pairs team embracing and looking sad, an Olympic medal, a scenic shot of a lake with snow in the foreground, and Genevieve Cartier’s to-do list: 1. Get married 2. Get U.S. citizenship 3. Win gold medal 4. Do NOT fall in love with Aiden
Since #writerpit is taking place over on Instagram, I decided to throw together a mood board for THE GAMES OF LOVE, my currently drafting marriage of convenience figure skating romance novel. #wip #amdrafting
Decided to throw a #writerpit pitch out over on Instagram!
For any curious minds/anyone else taking part, sharing the link below (that is, if it works)…

I've been really quiet lately due to juggling so, so many different things and preparing to have a baby next week 😱, but I'm doing #writerpit over on Instagram, and I always love to connect to more of the #writingcommmunity over there. ☺️
A fake back cover for an upcoming novel, which says #writerpit The Pitch: An anxious perfectionist transfers to an elite academy to learn to control her mischievous magic, but when she discovers that the school is really a cult in disguise, her life depends on breaking the rules, rejecting the lies, and claiming the power she's feared all along. The Refinement: Mercury is a YA dark fantasy for fans of A Study in Drowning who binge-watch cult documentaries. By Rachel E. Tell
An image with the text #writerpit The Vibes: Mob Psycho 100 meets NXIVM documentary, with a dash of the 1985 Return to Oz and a climax that's pure Jacob's-Ladder-but-make-it-Disney-Princess chaos. The image also has the cover art for The Vow and Seduced documentaries about the NXIVM cult, Mob Psycho 100 anime image, Return to Oz movie poster, and the Jacob's Ladder movie poster overlaid with a princess crown and wand plus pink and green vines.
An image that says #writerpit The Moodboard and has pictures of a young couple hugging, a large gold crown, a dark academia hallway, a field of lavendar, a honeycomb from an apiary, bubbles, a mushroom fairy circle, ball pit balls, and a spooky roofed well.
Just posted my pitch for #writerpit @writerpit.bsky.social on Instagram! Here are the images if you want a peek. It's a YA dark fantasy for fans of A Study in Drowning who binge-watch cult documentaries, with a climax that's pure Jacob's-Ladder-but-make-it-Disney-Princess chaos.

If anyone is doing #WriterPit on Instagram tomorrow let me know so I can support your pitch!
I have like no reach there, but at least I can add a bit to the engagement for the algorithm. 😅
Just reached 250 followers over on Insta! 🥳 📸 I haven't had much success in pitch events over there, but I'll be giving #WriterPit a go next week! 💪
Follow me at TheBeeMorris 🐝 and I'll follow back!

I think a better question would be: why SHOULDN'T you participate in #WriterPit? 😉
#Writers #Authors #Querying #OnSubmission
Why Instagram? #WriterPit is an Instagram-only event, and the focus is NOT to get likes from agents or editors. So why should you participate?
Sooner or later, most writers come to a point in their writing journey when they realize they need to reach the people who will actually read their book. And readers generally aren’t on X or Bsky — but a lot of them are on Instagram.
Growing an Instagram account from nothing can be tricky — but that’s where the writing community shines! During pitch events, writers follow, support, and engage with each other, so it’s a great opportunity to grow your following and create hype for a post about your book — on a platform where where it really matters!
Many writers won’t just boost you during the event, they keep supporting your future posts too, so it’s a valuable network to build your author brand on. And of course, you should do the same in return. Support and hype other writers as often as you can. Because that’s what we do: We’re writers, we lift each other up!
Why should you participate in a pitch event on Instagram?
