a stunning coastal view from within the West Shelter observation point at Cape Perpetua, Oregon; framed by the rustic stone archway and low stone wall built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. Beyond the shelter, a dense, dark green forest covers the steep hillside that slopes dramatically down to the rugged Pacific coastline. The blue ocean stretches out to the horizon under a partly cloudy sky, offering a view that can extend up to 70 miles on a clear day.

Yachats council wants more time to consider key opposition to city’s vacation rental license ordinance By GARRET JAROS/Lincoln Chronicle YACHATS – The Yachats city council is postponing efforts to amend the city’s vacation rental licensing policy to further consider whether licenses can be passed on to family members through inheritance or purchase of a home. After listening to public testimony during a second hearing on the subject at its Wednesday meeting, the council voted 3-2 to schedule a workshop to consider opposition to not allowing licenses to be transferred. The council also wants to hear from a broader segment of the community who are not invested in vacation rental properties. On Nov 15, a #humpbackwhale was found stranded near #Yachats, #Oregon. Rescue efforts failed, & the #whale was euthanized.
