A greater yellowlegs bird is standing in water that hides all but about a centimeter of its legs. It is facing left and has a long, thin beak which it has just dipped into the water. Droplets of water are being flung into the air surrounding its beak. There is a fairly clear reflection in the water of the bird.

A slim bird with long, yellow legs appears to be striding through still green water. It has a long grey bill, dark eye with white ring, white breast feathers and heavily patterned brown with white spots, tail feathers, flights and on it's back. It's head & neck is lightly tucked in. the background has a large grey rock, scattered pebbles and bits of greenery poking through.
Late today, had to shovel the night's snow & drifts, in -19C (-2F) but, thankfully no wind. Todays' #BirdOfTheDay theme is #LongLegsAndNeck. A Lesser Yellowlegs surely has the legs. The neck when stretched out is long...ish. This late season visitor passed through in 2023. #Birds #Yellowlegs
