The Architects of the Revolution Once in his car, he listened to the sound of drops ping against the metal. Each one splattering into a thousand tiny versions of themselves until running in streams down along the lines of the vehicle. Agony washed over him as he watched the splashes. The rain was destined to fall, no individual drop could change that. Like them, his course was set toward an ocean of grief. In his numbness, he drove in no particular direction. The wipers sloshed the rain aside, sharpening the impressionist view of the city for a few seconds before new drops fell, blurring it again. He considered pointing the car toward the east in an attempt to outrun the pain until he couldn’t drive any further. Eve’s voice echoed in his head, “You have to be strong for me.” The words shook him and he turned toward home. “Call Dad,” he said to the car and the familiar tones of a distant phone ringing filled the speakers. “Good evening my boy! What can I do for you? Is Eve feeling better?” his father’s voice echoed. “Things are horrible,” Adoniram choked back tears. “I need your help.”
