The entire order Zingiberales is characterized by supervolute ptyxis. Bananas, gingers, heliconias & cannas all have their leaves rolled up in bud. It is easy to see in the red-margined leaf of Canna indica ‘Musifolia’ (#Cannaceae). #ptyxis #Zingiberales #morphology #Botany #PlantScience 🌾🧪🌱
