A strange triangle of light appears in late winter skies. Here’s what causes it. This faint glow after dusk isn’t the Milky Way. It’s dust from across the solar system.

"The zodiacal light appears as a cone-shaped wedge of light rising from the sunset point in the evening or sunrise direction in the pre-dawn hours. It’s a diffuse glow that does resemble the earliest moments of dawn and the last ones of dusk."

Have you ever seen the #zodiacallight? You can start looking for it now! This eerie cone of light can be found in the west, just as evening #twilight draws to a close. Or, if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, look for it in the east, before twilight begins at dawn. 🌄

🔭 End of September, on my way to work, I stopped at my favourite star gazing field to try and take a pic of C2025 A6 Lemmon.
Though Lemmon not visible I found out later that I caught the beautiful #zodiacallight instead.

The hazy pyramid of light we call the "false dawn" or #zodiacallight, is back in the eastern sky before #dawn. Find out how to see this beautiful sight and what it has to do with dust storms on #Mars in this new video:

A breathtaking panorama of the night sky over a tranquil river in North Jutland, Denmark. Two distinct bands of light illuminate the scene: the bright, central band of the Milky Way galaxy on the right, and the fainter zodiacal light on the left, created by sunlight reflecting off comet dust near Jupiter. The juxtaposition of these celestial features over the reflective waters creates a stunning cosmic landscape.

A stunning fisheye view of a Leonid meteor blazing across the night sky, its vibrant green trail contrasting sharply against the majestic Milky Way galaxy. Captured from Champ du Feu, Alsace, France on November 17th, the image showcases the meteor's long path, Jupiter near the center, and the zodiacal light. The meteor is a fast earthgrazer, belonging to the Leonid meteor shower originating from comet Tempel-Tuttle.
