The **Orange Pi 4 Pro** is a credit card-sized single-board computer that’s just a hair larger than a Raspberry Pi 5, and it even has a Raspberry Pi-compatible 40-pin GPIO header.
But it stands out for a few reasons. For one thing there’s a M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 connector and an eMMC socket on the bottom of the board. For another, the Orange Pi 4 Pro is powered by an Allwinner A733 processor with 8 CPU cores based on Arm architecture, a low-power RISC-V real-time co-processor, and a GPU from Imagination Technologies.
That processor was introduced late last year, and it’s also available in the Radxa Cubie A7A and Radxa Cubie A7Z single-board computers that were introduced this summer.
The processor features two ARM Cortex-A76 CPU cores with support for frequencies up to 2 GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores that run at up to 1.8 GHz, and a single 200 MHz XuanTie E902 RISC-V co-processor for real-time applications. There’s also an Imagination BXM-4-64 GPU and an NPU with up to 3 TOPS of INT8 AI performance.
The board is expected to be available with 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, 128Mb or 256Mb of SPI flash storage, an optional eMMC module with 16GB to 128GB of storage. Ports and connectors include:
* 1 x M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 connector
* 1 x USB 3.0 Type-A host port
* 3 x USB 2.0 Type-A host ports
* 1 x USB Type-C (5V/3A power input only)
* Gigabit Ethernet (PoE supported)
* 1 x HDMI 2.0
* 1 x 3.5mm audio
* 1 x microSD card reader
* 1 x 4-lane MIPI-DSI interface
* 1 x 4-lane MIPI-CSI interface
* 1 x 2-lane MIPI-CSI interface
* 1 x 40-pin header
The board measures 89 x 56mm (3.5″ x 2.2″) and also features onboard support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4.
I haven’t seen official pricing yet, but rumor has it that an entry-level model with 4GB of RAM should sell for $30 (not including shipping, taxes, and tariffs). That would make it a little cheaper than a Radxa Cubie A7a with similar specs.
