The station was part of the Caledonian Railway line between Partick and Dunbarton. It opened as Scotstoun Station in 1896, and changed its name to Scotstoun West in 1900. It closed in 1964 as part of the cuts instigated by Richard Beeching.

What I think is the entrance to the former Scotstoun West Railway Station on Burnham Road in Glasgow. Scotstoun West was an island station, with its platform on the viaduct above the entrance.

An empty wooden bench sits along the edge of a weathered train platform, its paint chipped and peeling to expose layers of age and use. The bench is positioned in the left foreground, angled slightly away, its metal legs darkened and worn where they meet the damp wooden planks beneath. The platform boards are slick and uneven, scattered with small debris and darkened patches that suggest recent rain or lingering moisture. To the left, the exterior wall of an old station building runs parallel to the platform, its stone surface stained and rough, punctuated by tall windows and a series of rounded, downward-facing lamps mounted under the overhang. The lamps recede into the distance, diminishing in size and clarity as they follow the platform’s length. On the right, train tracks stretch straight ahead, converging toward a vanishing point in the misty background. Bare trees with thin, twisting branches line the far side of the tracks, their silhouettes stark against a pale, overcast sky. Utility poles and faint industrial shapes dissolve into fog farther down the line. The entire scene is rendered in high-contrast black and white, emphasizing texture, emptiness, and distance. The atmosphere feels cold and suspended, as though time has slowed while waiting for something that may or may not arrive.

Ultra-realistic nighttime street photo of a grotesquely cute Sanrio-style backpack with stitched-on cartoon teeth, sitting upright on a weathered wooden bench in an empty train station. Its surface is distressed canvas, faded floral or pink corduroy, smeared with grime and wear. Dangling from zippers are rusted keychains, stained plushes, and hand-scrawled charms. Scene lit by sodium vapor and overhead fluorescents, casting harsh shadows and grungy yellow-green tones. Shallow depth of field isolates the subject; background dissolves into hazy bokeh, flickering signal lights, and chipped columns. Shot on 35mm lens, f/1.8, ISO 1600, tungsten balance.

Hey @TfL, how's that plan going to shut tube ticket offices and free up staff to be present at gatelines to help people? #CannonStreet #AbandonedStation
