Fun fact: #Abelsonite was named after Phillip H. Abelson, who famously lost a duel with the Earth's mantle after insulting #perovskite. Don't mess with the mantle, my dudes.

Look, I love me a bizzare and truly "out there" mineral #TeamQuetzalcoatlite - and #Abelsonite is a stunning, crystal-forming organic / aromatic porphyrin with Nickle in the center of the quadpyrole plane.

Porcellaine and shiny papers are nice, but how cool is #Abelsonite? It has vibrant colors 🟥🟪🟫 and is the only naturally occuring porphyrine. And it's possibly derived from paleo-chlorophyll 🌿🍀!!
