This STEM influencer then publicly shamed me by creating a post called ‘hate comments’ I got from the post of yesterday and screenshotted my post with my username and said I was ‘bean soup theory’ whatever that means. #academichatter
Don't like the vibes of this post because A) industry jobs are hard to get in some fields and require tons of connection to get. B) very disrespectful to the hardworking staff in academia who make much less money

Yeah, the going rates for teaching in my field w/ PHD are $50-$75 an hour which sounds great. But this does not include any prep time, grading, or lesson planning. Also no health insurance, pension, or guarantee of hours. Basically, comes up to $2000-$3000 per semester #academichatter

Academia was SO paranoid about us cheating-banned calculators in calc class and made us handwrite CS exams in the 2010s (even us take off our shoes lest we slip in notes) & did little to examine cultivating creativity, valuing humanities in a tech driven world and are now scrambling #academichatter
Another example- I wrote a 300 page novel PHD thesis with pioneering machine learning for the field--code I built from scratch. Did not get best the best department thesis. White guy with his 150 page dissertation on improving a current method won. #academichatter #feministscience #phdlife

What's with no office space on campus too? Our 6 floor building has 4 tiny conference rooms, 200 sq ft offices with 4 people crammed in, but huge open spaces (noisy too) with students to congregate at eat at tables. If they want us on campus they need to make it worth our while. #academichatter
