i) ORAL: there is no need to upload a merged summary PDF, you end up sharing your own screen. It is basically a Zoom webinar w panelists (speakers & conveners) and attendees. You have Tech support to move people from attendee to panelist if they are in the wrong place. #AGU20

Altimetry of the Polar Regions: CryoSat-2, Operation IceBridge, ICESat-2, and Beyond II Posters Satellite and airborne radar and laser altimetry have transformed our capacity to study the cryosphere. The past three decades of continuous altimetry measurements have painted a unique picture of how Earth’s glaciers, ice sheets, ice shelves, sea ice, and polar oceans evolve. As global temperatures have risen, so too have rates of snowfall, ice melting, and mass loss from ice sheets (leading to sea level rise). IceBridge completed its decade-long mission in 2019, providing ice thickness data to complement altimeter data to bridge the gap between ICESat and ICESat-2. This session brings together studies that use satellite altimetry and other sensors to demonstrate the vital role of continuous altimetry in advancing our understanding of the cryosphere. This includes scientific and technological achievements associated with the unique instrumentation, operational implementation and data analysis for CryoSat-2, ICESat-2, Operation IceBridge and other polar altimetry datasets, and plans for future polar altimeter missions.

Featured Plenary: Dr. Rita Colwell - Oceans, Climate, and Human Health: Lessons from Cholera for Covid-19 Explore the successes of Dr. Rita Colwell, author of more than 800 scientific publications in the areas of global infectious diseases, water and health. Dr. Rita Colwell is Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland at College Park and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and President of CosmosID, Inc.  Her interests are focused on global infectious diseases, water, and health. She has authored or co-authored 19 books and more than 800 scientific publications. Dr. Colwell served as 11th Director of the National Science Foundation and Co-chair of the Committee on Science, National Science and Technology Council.    Dr. Colwell served as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the American Academy of Microbiology, President of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Washington Academy of Sciences, and American Society for Microbiology.  Dr. Colwell is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Royal Society of Canada, Royal Irish Academy, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and American Philosophical Society.  Dr. Colwell has been awarded 63 honorary degrees from institutions of higher education and is the recipient of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, bestowed by the Emperor of Japan, 2006 National Medal of Science, awarded by the President of the United States, the 2010 Stockholm Water Prize awarded by the King of Sweden, and the 2018 Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize of Singapore.  A geological site in Antarctica, Colwell Massif, has been named in recognition of her work in the polar regions.
