THE #Begonia #amphioxus is one the weirdest plants ever! I look after her extremely carefully and she doesn't grow. I throw a cut I broke by mistake into a prop takeaway bix with spagnum moss and she doesn't only root incredibly well but also puts out the most gracious flower ever! WTF sister! 🤦🏼

To address all these questions, we turned to our favorite model, the basally-branching chordate #amphioxus. Amphioxus has a (simple) tubular brain like vertebrates, but it also expresses Six3/6 and FoxQ2 early in development, similar to echinoderms and hemichordates.
