Two of my students won awards at #AMS2026! Mia Smith (@maliyah-wx.bsky.social, current URA) won an Outstanding Student Poster award in the Student Conference. Lindsey Peterson (former URA) won 1st prize in the Societal Applications Symposium student poster competition. I'm super-proud of them both!

The transition of the Cheyenne Supercomputer Center to a third party is such a devastating blow.

At #AMS2026, Tom Fahy said to expect pain with respect to NCAR.

It’s only going to get worse.

I’ve never seen a government so consistently try to make things incrementally worse.

Any word on if there is an #AMS2026 plague this year? I've seen few to no comments on leaving AMS sick, which would be kind of a minor miracle. (I'm not sick, I'm just genuinely curious)

coming back from #AMS2026 we noticed whole lanes missing on the roads 5 days after the sleet invasion. Also its so cold we need to limit water use cause watermain breaks.

We’re home after a great trip to Houston for #AMS2026. Lots of good conversations, presentations, and posters.
