But the thing that was the most surprising was the sight of the crime boss laying on said couch with a blanket and pillow!
Xie Lian quickly looked around for any other doors like the one he was standing in, and could only see two opened ones. The first lead to a bathroom, this one with a tub. The second led to an organized office, yet it was the only room with any trace of someone actually living there.
Had… Had he been sleeping in Hua Cheng’s room, then?? In his bed???

He heard the soft mutterings of another in the cart of hay, hidden by the golden pile, as the one he’d waited for read over some scrolls. To his amusement, he could hear the names of some current gods, and replied when the stranger loudly wondered why certain martial gods were called ‘The Martial Flames of the South’ when they’d been so hostile towards each other in Heaven.
“The mortals have been worshipping them for 800 years. It’s only natural that at some point, their rivalry was taken as something deeper since neither have attempted a hostile takeover of the other’s land in all that time,” he explained, languidly stretching along the dried grass and waiting to be looked at.
To no surprise, the stranger crawled over with wide golden eyes, clearly not having noticed his arrival. “Oh. I suppose that makes sense – I’ve heard humans enjoy making gods out to be couples. It would be romantic if it were true.”
The laid-back man laughed and crossed his legs, surpressing a smirk when he saw those golden eyes take in the sight of his accentuated calves. Just as he predicted.
“Ahem,” he cleared his throat, capturing the stranger’s attention again, and enjoying the slight blush on his cheeks at the realization he’d been caught in the act.
He gave a nervous laugh and rubbed the bridge of his nose. “… So, you know rumours about Heaven, but what about matters of ghosts?”

“What about… I don’t know, would you be able to let him have control of a clone?”
He paused for a moment to clearly think it over. “Gege, you know that if I gave him one, I would have to do it for all of them or else I would get no peace, right?”
“I don’t mind at all, San Lang. I love each and every one.”
“But… no one more than me, right?”
Xie Lian laughed and kissed the tips of his fingers, then brushed them gently against his husband’s nose. “It sounds like you want them to start a fight with you as soon as they get their own bodies.”
“They could stand to be reminded that gege loves me the most.”
Before Xie Lian could reply to that, Hua Cheng sat up from his lap and concentrated. A moment later, four very different yet similar-looking clones stood in front of the divan. The god held his breath as he waited for them to react, and a few seconds later, they all began to scramble towards him with a loud greeting of ‘gege!’s and ‘Dianxia!’s.

With a slight turn of his head, Xie Lian could see whose arms were holding him tightly, and wasn’t shocked at all to see someone who looked very similar to his husband. But, instead of an eye patch over his right eye, it was over the left, and the exposed eye was a beautiful red.
Also on the lookalike’s face was a bright, giddy smile, with an almost childish flair to it. “Gege!” he greeted, holding him even tighter and beginning to tremble happily.
It resembled his other form greatly, and there was no doubt at all that Hua Cheng had been successful. “E’ming!” Xie Lian beamed, turning to hug him properly. He dipped at the unexpected weight pressed on him through the taller man’s embrace, but stayed strongly rooted to the floor.
“Hey. Be careful,” Hua Cheng snapped at him. “You’re gonna hurt gege’s back.”
“It’s alright, I’ve got him,” Xie Lian insisted, giggling when E’ming rubbed his cheek against his.
“Gege, gege, gege!” he repeated, the excited lilt in his voice making his delight contagious. “I c’n fin’ly hug you!”
Hua Cheng sighed again from the bed, finally rising and approaching, and giving Xie Lian a kiss on his other cheek. “You’ll have to excuse him. He hasn’t been part of a human body in so long, he’s relearning how to form words and use his muscles.”

Hua Cheng stared into a mirror, and Wu Ming stared back at him.
It wasn’t the prettiest sight. At least, not to him. He knew Xie Lian loved every inch of all his forms, and had spent ages staring and touching and admiring each of them. But Hua Cheng couldn’t help but point out the imperfections whenever he looked in the mirror, no matter what form he took.
Xie Lian had asked if he could spend a day with Wu Ming, for the sake of pampering and healing. The request came up on occasion, usually after the god had spent a few days with their dark past in his head. He felt the need to ‘make it up to’ Wu Ming, and to reassure himself that the ghost was perfectly fine.
There was no way Hua Cheng would refuse him, even if he wanted to. He eagerly chased the thought of being able to help his beloved in some way, even if it was just by being a version of himself he thought could have done better. Then again, there was no form he thought was good enough to stand by Xie Lian’s side.
So, with a deathly complexion riddled with scars, the crooked nose from being broken so often, the sunken cheeks of the malnourished creature he’d died as, and the red eye that cursed him since birth, he turned from the mirror and went to find his husband in their expansive garden.

Xie Lian was used to it; though they were his clones, Hua Cheng couldn’t help but show he was the one of them in charge. It was both funny and cute in a way, and the god hardly minded it.
At least, not unless it became the rare occasion where they’d break out into an actual fight, his husband sometimes choosing to exchange harsh words and blows rather than simply dismiss the clones.
This was thankfully not one of those times.
Little Hong’er’s arms found themselves around Xie Lian’s shoulders like they had been centuries ago, still holding on for dear life, as if he was two seconds from doom rather than comfortable in bed.
Wu Ming took a few minutes to get genuinely comfortable, like he couldn’t believe he was in such a situation even though he had all of Hua Cheng’s memories. Finally, he ended up relaxing, and their legs were soon fitted together comfortably once more despite Hua Cheng’s display.
It was a quirk Xie Lian noticed of all his husband’s clones; depending on the form, they’d take on the personality too, even when knowing what was going on and how much he was loved. So from the middle of the cuddle pile, he turned to Hua Cheng, and then Wu Ming, to give them thorough, tender kisses, and then pressed one against the top of Hong’er’s scruffy, wild hair.
“Are you comfortable, gege?” asked Hua Cheng.
“Very,” he sighed in contentment. “Thank you, San Lang. All of you.”

That, at least, Wu Ming knew the solution for. Though he didn’t know all that much about their biology, the alphas in the army got to return home during their partners’ heats, and overheard many times why that was.
He knew that the longer bonded omegas went without being knotted by their partners, the worse their heats would get, and those with little control could end up acting irrationally and getting into trouble.
Logically, that would require a ‘first knotting’ as well. The bite was, unfortunately, not enough on its own, no matter how much Wu Ming wished it was.
His god shouldn’t have to make any more effort to ease his discomfort, especially not with something he’d literally stabbed himself over so many years before. There was no way he could bring it up.
However, Xie Lian was perceptive as always, and stared down at him with a serious expression. “If you know, then speak.”
“… I don’t dare.”
“Why not?”
“I could never force Your Highness to do anything.”
“Who said you’d be forcing me? How I handle knowledge is up to me.”
Well, he couldn’t deny him any longer, and also couldn’t maintain eye contact as he blurted out the solution. The god froze above him, and Wu Ming swore now he’d be dispersed, but then he heard a sigh.
“Alright. If it means lessening the nonstop assault on my nose, then it’s worth it.”

The god leaned in closer and closer, and Wu Ming sat rigidly, wondering what was in store for him. He was completely surprised when Xie Lian simply sniffed at his neck, and then audibly inhaled more slowly, as if he was savouring whatever it was he detected.
“You.”
Before the ghost could ask him to clarify, or even wrap his head around what was happening, he was being yanked out of the water by the hand covering his eye. Though it was his beloved god, he couldn’t help but struggle until he was laid out on his back, his wrists pinned above his head and his legs pinned by Xie Lian’s body.
