I’m not a fire keeper I tend the hearth fire
I’m not a master of fire. I am an apprentice of the ancestral fire.
I don’t bust out a coal - I coax the embryonic ancestral fire out of hiding
I don’t make fire. I welcome the ancestral fire.

The church outlawed friction fire (earliest ref is 8th c) as it was seen as heathen! The Neid fire practice was common thru Europe til mid 18th c then mostly forgotten!

Fire Gate is what the Slavs called the apparatus used to welcome the heathen Neid Fire/Living Fire
