The lyrics to Battlefield - which was part of a larger opus/album by Emerson, Lake & Palmer called Tarkus, which conveyed via music the essence of war. In this heart-rending interlude, Lake’s lyrics are pure poetry & speak to the horror & utter futility of war: poignant but also expressing the same anger many of us feel right now about what’s going on. On the Live album, he sings Battlefield then segues into a shortened version of the equally powerful song “Epitaph” - which is from the album “In The Court of the Crimson King,” by his former band, King Crimson. It is sad that these poetic lyrics are even more relevant today than when ELP first put out the studio album Tarkus. I realise most everyone here wants to see beautiful pictures, find an escape from what’s going on in the world right now. Our Pinned post even says that is what our feed is meant to be. I’m sorry if this post disappoints you. But this IS a Poem…and right now I desperately wanted to share it. I hope those of you who come here expecting “The Pretty” will not only understand, but appreciate Lake’s moving, poetic lyrics…and perhaps even stream that Live version. It is truly worth hearing him sing it, with Epitaph. -tam💞
Battlefield -by Greg Lake, fr/ELP’s Tarkus. #Lyrics are often #poetry This is a perfect example. My fav version is fr/ELP’s Live💿 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welcome...
