An amazing experience when hiking the #ArcticCircleTrail in #Greenland was seeing muskox. The hair on the muskox swished as they walked, like a hula skirt on a Hawaiian dancer.

Although this is not in SW USA, here is a very cool shot in Greenland for #RockinTuesday. A thrust fault in the ~3.6 Ga Iksaq Gneiss pushed older rocks over younger & in the process created the fold. It is a “recumbent” fold as its axial plane is parallel to the horizontal plane. #ArcticCircleTrail

2/2 On the Arctic Circle Trail in #Greenland, the #geology was phenomenal! Here is a fault plane exposing an older folding event. Hot fluids migrated along this fault plane creating rare minerals & gemstones. We found many sapphires along this fault zone.

In 2016 liep ik in Groenland de Arctic Circle Trail, van Kangerlussuaq naar Sisimiut. Ik kwam daar een stel Groenlandse vriendinnen tegen, gewapend met geweer, voor je weet maar nooit. Deze week is in Kangerlussuaq een ijsbeer aangetroffen. En gedood. #arcticcircletrail sermitsiaq.ag/node/247306?...
