The regions considered for deforestation (green), showing river systems, particularly in Russia, Canada, and the USA. Areas of forest affected by fires in the period 2002–2020 are marked in red. Researchers are focusing on coniferous forests in Siberia and North America, including the Ob, Yenisei, Lena, Yukon, and Mackenzie river basins. These forests collectively store an estimated 100 gigatons of carbon. Harvesting just 1 percent of this area, around 180,000 square kilometers, and channeling the wood to the Arctic could capture one gigaton of carbon dioxide per year. Source: CzechGlobe.
The plan aims to remove roughly one gigaton of carbon dioxide annually, equivalent to about a tenth of global yearly emissions. #Geoengineering #CarbonSequestration #Deforestation #Driftwood #SinkingTimber #ArcticOcean

Hello Ladies & Gentlemen! Recently, we published a fascinating article on the subject of the oceans surrounding Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada! Iqaluit is considered one of the most ideal places for fishing in the area. It is the only city in the entire province, with a minuscule population of 7,429 people. This is the lowest population of any provincial Canadian capital. Located on the Baffin Island, the city is close to the Arctic circle. Iqaluit was also known by the name “Frobisher Bay” from 1942 to 1987, at which the cities name was restored to its Inuktitut name. The city encompasses a 19.92 square mile area (51.592563 square kilometers). Outside of Nunavut, the city is not well known. In this article we will discuss the salinity, tides, temperatures, marine geography, & depth of the oceans surrounding Iqaluit, the most prominent marine ecosystems of the oceans surrounding Iqaluit, the documented marine flora & fauna of Iqaluit, & how ocean acidification & rising oceanic temperatures are affecting the oceans surrounding Iqaluit. With that being said, let us delve into the jewel of Nunavut!
