Metro, a cinema in downtown Cairo, opened in 1940. Architect Thomas Lamb worked with local Gaston Rossi in a stunning Art Deco style. It was built to showcase MGM movies in Cairo.

Rivoli, a former Art Deco cinema in downtown Cairo was designed by the British architect Leonard Allen. It opened in 1948. Until 1952, the British Rank Organisation, showed British films here. It is no longer a cinema.
