ID WIP Line drawing of part of my Mum's side of the family's coat of arms. Which is depicted in a stained glass window at a museum. I am going ot draw and paint the design. There is a lot of detail so so far I have drawn in the head and neck of a unicorn which is on top of the head piece from armour, Underneath that is a detailed shield divided into numerous sections and subsections with different patterns in each. To the right side of the shield is a unicorn on its hind legs. This is in an oval shape in the centre of the window and around are more panels - Ive not drawn everything in as yet as its so detailed and Mango decided Ide done enough and sat on my lap, refusing to budge, after a couple of hrs!

This week I have been teaching the drawing of ridiculously tall and fancy gateaus @artistinresidence.co - mark making with sticks & ink, a loose approach, colour play.

A flat lay arrangement of magnolia flowers and beetle drawings. Flowers drawn from life - specimens shown; shiny, green beetles from photographs. Materials used are laid out too: acrylic pens - pink, pale green, white; biro/bic pens - dark and light green, black and pink - they help add the metallic sheen to the beetles' carapace; and dip pen plus a bottle of black ink. Drawings are done on tracing paper and deli paper - so that the flowers and beetles can be layered together in different configurations.

It's super cold but the magnolias are showing signs of flowering - a plant so ancient it's pollinated by beetles - they evolved before bees!
