Sorry but while I understand that feeling - it doesn’t stand up. You could express it as ‘end of life care is bad and we don’t believe you’ll change that so just let us die’ - REALLY Vikki is THAT acceptable to you? It’s grotesque. Bad law is worse than no law. Fix EOL care FIRST. #assiteddying

"The Royal Dutch Medical and Pharmaceutical Societies and the Canadian Association of #MAiD Assessors and Providers...both recommend that clinicians obtain consent from patients to convert to #euthanasia... in case the patient takes too long to die" pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC... #AssitedDying
#HPM #palliative #endoflife reflecting on my weekend working. #assiteddying has come up a lot both for & against but specifically about empowering ppl to make decisions about how they live until they die. Conversations can be hard, but can done as a co-navigator of their lives
They really did pass it. I thought it would be close and maybe not go through.
I was for assisted dying as long as proper safeguards in place…hopeful this law can now be scrutinised in the Lords and become law eventually. Time to wait and see how it will work in practice. #AssitedDying
As #assiteddying bill goes to the next stage, I hope for detailed, respectful debate. Whatever people's views and experiences are, how we die affects us all. #Palliative #endoflife #dying happens in every setting. Let us be consistently better everywhere Seek to understand, before being understood
Here is the timeline they will be voting on. Is this actually possible in the real world? (Extract from the Bill) #assiteddying
Considering this aspect of #assiteddying further, I personally feel that it should not be restricted to self administration only. This would be restrictive to the therapies available and could limit the symptom control that could be achieved by physician-administered suicide.
Thoughts?
