Around the Bay Race has started.... And so has the rain!
My (stationary) view for the next while

Super bummed to NOT be running #hamont #atb2025 Around the Bay this weekend (broken leg injury while running) would have been my 11th — For those interested in the route, and a bit of Hamilton’s History, and the run itself- here’s a video I made of the run youtu.be/pSP8yoTctP8?...
Rainy Run ✅

Sunday run in the rain. 18km of which maybe the first 5-6km were rainy? Then it was quite nice actually. Shorts and t-shirt by the end. A nice treat for mid-March in Toronto. www.strava.com/activities/1... #Running #Strava #AtB2025
Easy 7km this morning. Lots of icy spots around although the sun is taking care of that now. 23km tomorrow and Around the Bay 30km race is just three weeks away. www.strava.com/activities/1... #Running #Strava #AtB2025
Graph of heartrate over distance. 6.49km 38:07 at 5:52/km. The graph shows a continual escalation with nine distinct spikes for each hill repeat.
Hill repeats on the treadmill this morning since there's still snow piled feet high everywhere. The knee is sore, but running on it is not painful. 6.5km with 9 reps of 60s hills.

A pedestrian bridge covered in fresh snow, with footprints marking the path. The bridge has a striking geometric design with metal cables extending from an arch, creating symmetry. A few people are walking across, bundled up against the cold. In the background, modern high-rise buildings emerge from the snowy haze, adding an urban contrast to the winter scene. The river or lake below appears partially frozen, and the surrounding trees and shoreline are dusted with snow.
A snow-covered pathway lined with leafless trees stretching into the distance. The scene includes a colorful bridge support covered in graffiti, adding vibrancy to the muted winter tones. Snow blankets the ground, with footprints and tire tracks indicating recent activity. Park benches, rocks, and signs peek through the snow, emphasizing the depth of the snowfall.
Ran 22.6km this morning in the midst of the worst snow storm we've seen in years. The footing was pretty awful to start and then just got worse the longer we ran. Still, glad we got it done today because it's going to be frigid tomorrow. www.strava.com/activities/1... #Running #Strava #AtB2025
Map of a running route. 11.01km 1:02:30 5:40/km
Got out the door and ran the 11km. A bit faster than I should have, but there was a lot of downhill at the start. The footing was terrible in spots because too many lazy Torontonians don't clear their sidewalks. #Running #Runna #AtB2025
Graph showing a running workout with an easy warmup, intervals at speed and an easy cooldown. Distance 11.02km. Time 57:48. Pace 5:14/km.
20+cm of snow overnight meant that intervals outside were out of the question. Off to the YMCA again for this session. 3.2km warm up and then 8 x 300m at 4:35/km and 300m at 5:15/km. Easy 3km cool down. Ran it well and felt pretty strong throughout.

A map of a running route. Distance 10km. Time 56:08. Pace 5:36/km.
Back out for a lunchtime run today before the big snowstorm arrives. It was cold, but not too cold. Pretty stiff headwind on the outbound leg, but a nice tailwind coming back home. Ran this nice and easy.

Graph of a treadmill hills workout with pace against distance. Shorter Hill Repeats. Distance 9.77km. Time 54:29. Average Pace 5:34/km.
Short hill repeats on the treadmill at the YMCA. Instead of a 3.2km easy cooldown, I did a pyramid going 1km, 800m, 400m escalating pace until a 1km cooldown. The goal was to push close to my max heart rate and I hit 164bpm which is 2bpm from my theoretical max of 166bpm.

A group of runners heading over a white steel arched bridge with snow on the ground and grey cloudly skies. Week 6/13 Around the Bay 30km. Distance 23.1km Time 2:23:55 Pace 6:13/km.
15cm of snow overnight meant for a pretty tough run this morning. 23km on the Runna plan and that's what I ran. I didn't do the faster pace in the middle 11km because it was impossible with the snow on the ground. Still, happy with the effort and how I felt at the end.

Easy 8km to start the weekend off. Big snow coming tonight so maybe 23km tomorrow will be a bit of a struggle? We'll see. In the meantime, I enjoyed the lake viws on a nice winter morning in Toronto.

Up early to drive the kid downtown to work in a snowstorm so why not also run 10km at the Y? Felt pretty dead by the end of this one. Lots of mileage this week and it's adding up to fatigue. Rest day tomorrow.

Went for a run today as usual - 11km at easy pace. I made some changes to my Runna plan this morning with the new beta update that added more control over training preferences. I basically dialed back a wee bit as I'm dealing with some minor injuries and bad weather.
