A common myth about autistic people is that we can't feel empathy, and that's just not true. While we may feel & show low-to-neutral levels of empathy, many of us may show signs of hyper-empathy (which may lead to meltdowns or overstimulation).

27: FANCY WORDING (Auctober 2024) Pane learns from Caesium that "exuberant," "taciturn," "ensconce," "byzantine" and "propinquity" are real words, even thinking they're hard to pronounce. Caesium says that these words are what humans call "four-dollar words" or similar.
Fancy words such as 'propinquity' can be tricky to keep up with: definition(s), pronunciation, or even the timing of such advanced vocabulary!

25: AMERICA (DEROGATORY) (Auctober 2024) Mercury curiously asks Mrs. Eddant if the United States of America is a fun country. Mrs. Eddant does have an answer, but is disappointed and uneasy about it, thinking in a thought cloud about the USA with Gohan's (character from Dragon Ball) smug face on it. When someone's senses cross with each other during a single sensory experience (such as tasting colors or smelling sounds), that is known as synesthesia. It can be quite common among autistic people, and it can be quite nice!

21: SCHOOL EXPERIENCE (Auctober 2024) Pane asks Mrs. Eddant how school was when she was a student. With an uneasy look, she says it seemed alright, but middle school was filled with rabid animals. She also says she got a scar on her left facial cheek during that time period in school.

20: OUT-OF-NOWHERE INFO/FACT (Auctober 2024) In the first panel, Mrs. Eddant wears her red bikini and happily holds a cleaning sponge and a water hose with a nozzle attachment on it, ready to wash a car and finding it a simple task. In the second panel, the Car Wash Manager tells Mrs. Eddant to not let the car dry under the sun, which would form water spots on said car and damage the metal. Mrs. Eddant hears this, so on the third panel, she feels uneasy and in a confused stasis hearing that washing a car is more complex than the car washing job sounds.
To me, being told a job is "easy" or "simple" does NOT help, because what if there's an extra bit of information of a job or task that may come out of nowhere and catches me off-guard? #actuallyautistic #auctober #auctober2024 #redinstead #red

19: TOO MUCH ENERGY (Auctober 2024) Mercury waves both of his arms around in circles since he is completely energetic, probably too energized to stop.
Occasionally, I have an awful lot of energy and I need to burn it off somehow, either my bouncing on a trampoline, running around the house, something like that.

Doing repetitive activities can help autistic people decompress after (or during) overstimulation. Some people like stimming, fidgeting with objects or watching comfort media. I like drawing hands.
