Finally started looking into #automerge and I think I’m hooked. Still need to figure network sync with authentication, but shouldn’t be too hard (hopefully)
I wrote maybe half of the decoding of an #automerge document in go, as an exercice in performance and database-like internals (column storage, RLE..).
It's sitting in a private repo until I come back to it, but happy to share with a foss license if there is interest. Just ping me.
Automerge 3.0 is here, boosting collaborative apps with a local-first approach! The buzz is around massive performance gains: significantly reduced memory use & faster load times. Users are exploring its potential & comparing it with alternatives like ElectricSQL. #Automerge 1/6
GitHub - ethersync/ethersync: Editor-agnostic, real-time collaborative editing of local text files. #ethersync #collaborative #editing #text #p2p #automerge #neovim #vscode
All use Automerge for local first data structures and multi-player collaboration.
One of the areas of work I envision is a local first search index. There's a path around ingesting and storing content of external links, or things like integration with Discord API to gather community content.
congrats to the incredible @inkandswitch.com team for publishing the source code (pre-alpha) for #keyhive and #beelay!
big step for the #automerge ecosys!

I've been working on a #Automerge based #Go library for a few days: github.com/astromechza/... which demonstrates synchronising Automerge documents over newline delimited JSON and HTTP1.1/HTTP2 rather than websockets.
Going to use this to build some tools with understandable building blocks.
finally! @memoryandthought.me's talk on #automerge at #loficonf!
hyped!
