I have been playing around with awesome em for Linux and it is pretty good. main issue is I keep breaking my config and having to hunt down a problem because I can't leave things well enough alone.
Thank God I backed that shit up.

After wandering in the window manager wilderness for years, I reinstalled #Gnome today. It seems more robust than I remember and is less demanding than #awesomewm on my time.
I may end up cycling back to being a basic Mac user who never changes the defaults. Not sure how to feel about that.

I used #Lua first, that's prototypical also. the way it all works is neater, tables etc
#AwesomeWM uses it for config, n it's popular
but JS has that whole time and place backstory
at least we have "modern JS" now

Anyone have details about this "windows running linux gui" stuff? Is this just an Xserve or MS is going down the "explorer (bar, window manager and all)" is now like "gnome", "kde" or "lxde" and I can choose? If I cannot run #awesomewm then I'm not really interested.
I've used #archlinux with #awesomewm professionally for about 5 years now. Highly recommend for anyone whose target environment is #AWS
