For my main RP Bellara, Skyhold AU is canon: she was in the Inquisition. She ended up there when she traveled south after hearing that one of the clans knew the secret of the Eluvians (the clan that captured Imshael). By the time she reached Orlais, that clan had been killed, there was a Breach in the sky, and Bellara decided she had to help.
After defeating Corypheus, she went home with Cole. They returned to tge Exalted Council, where they learned that Solas was Fen'Harel and his plans. Bellara sided with Solas (and became his secret agent). Due to their different opinions, Cole forced her to forget him.
Between the Exalted Council and the Veilguard, she study in the university.
The events of the DAV begin next. Due to her connection to Solas, Bellara knows a lot about the Eluvians and the Lighthouse.
AU Bellara wasn't in the Inquisition. She studied Arlathan more and visited the Fade more often, which allowed her to later create a small secret refuge for herself, like the Lighthouse, in a separate part of the Fade. She knows poisons and alchemy better.
Her brother died. Not disappeared; he died before her eyes when they found the artifact that triggered it. Some Veil Jumpers blamed her for her brother's death. She blamed herself for her brother's death. Because of this, she was more immersed in her work and less social. Rook in her world died in the prologue. The Evanuris were freed; no one stopped them from obtaining the dagger and unleashing the Blight. Bellara's parents were among the first to die, and she blamed herself for that, too, because she was with the Veil Jumpers at the time, not with them.
Then she was captured, infected with the taint, tortuted and she became one of Elgar'nan's mages.
