Does anyone know the bike parking situation at comfort hotel bayers lake (chain lake dr)? Or close by. It’s for a work meeting, I guess they won’t like me taking my bike inside? :-) (i don’t mind making a point, but i’d like to avoid a mess) #bikehfx

On two of my recent rides across the MacDonald I’ve encountered pedestrians or runners on the bike / AT side, is this normal and I’m just seeing it more since I’ve been on the bridge more? #bikehfx #halisky

The lessons from this challenge far exceeded simply riding bikes.
Overcoming cold rain, the Hemlock street wall, an occassional flat, knowing others get drives to school, etc all help build life strategies to deal.

It's unlikely that your community has great infrastructure btwn your home and school. Advocate endlessly for more but also work within what exists. Need to get on the sidewalk? Do it.
If you wait for ideal infra your kids will have moved out and you'll have missed the opportunity.

Find their motivation, pair it with an attainable but challenging goal, give them the gear to accomplish it, show them the way and keep encouraging them

In 2017 we challenged our four kids: ride to/from school EVERY single day from Labour Day to Xmas break and you get $$.
It was 3.5 kms each way and very hilly. My wife and I took turns riding with the youngest two.
Here's a few thoughts on getting your kids to ride.

On our ride home from the airport, we were sad to return to all the asphalt & car culture but were so happy to see you on your bike at the Duffus intersection, plus another #BikeHfx member going the other way on their Urban Arrow. Made the return a little easier!
I'm not really up on bike locks so I'll toss this to #BikeHFX
Also I'm looking at getting a chain that attaches to my cafe lock to supplement my U lock and am open to opinions

We’ve got a fun afternoon planned for the cargo bike curious and family cycling crowd in #BikeHfx. 1/4
Another #BikeHFX miracle! this week. We are being spoilt!
First bike ride to Costco for the year, and the bike "parking" was full.
It was fun to use the loaner from Halifax Cycles while ours is getting serviced.
