But have you seen the price of bubble fluid lately?! The best price we've found for our preferred bubbly fuel is $2.49/L. That makes gas look cheap by comparison, doesn't it? I'll be filling our bubble tanks today. 🫧

Kidical Mass Halifax April News Spring Social and Cargo Bike Buyer's Guide

A question for the #KidicalMassHfx community. A friend with a 7 year old is asking if there is a good program for kids for biking in Halifax (in addition to Kidical Mass). She is looking for something for evenings during the spring or summer. Any one know of any programs happening this year?

This is why we #KidicalMassHfx. Our built environment needs to be safe enough for all children & youth to get to their destinations (e.g. school, recreation, and work) independently and without injury.

#KidicalMassHfx community members will “show and share” their cargo bikes. So if you're in the market for a new bike, come prepared with your questions!

We’ll have hot cocoa, snacks and activities to keep the kids busy. Bring your bikes for laps on the oval with your friends. 3/4

@OhTheUrbanity 3 hours ago Having a baby has made us appreciate buses more. But it’s also highlighted how many child-related trips (daycares, libraries, community centres, etc) don’t work that well on transit but do work well by bike. Cycling just fills in a lot of the gaps where transit is weaker (and vice versa).

Our #KidicalMassHfx rides have enabled this kind of connection for me and it’s just wonderful!

Ran into a #KidicalMassHfx parent this morning and she said the kids were talking about Kidical Mass last night.
Knowing that, in the middle of winter, these kids and their families are talking about these rides and looking forward to the new season is balm for the soul.

We’re glad #KidicalMassHfx was a highlight for you!

He also recommends parents and teachers who really care about kids’ transportation, mobility, and independence, start a bike bus to their school.

(I’ll add that another possibility is a Kidical Mass. #KidicalMassHFX has been a blast to take part in)

My thrifting-luck was strong today. I found another set of dog saddle bags which can be converted into child-sized panniers. Got a kid who might like these? If needed, I can help with sewing/adaptations to make them fit your kid’s bike (rear rack required).
